Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Assistant Vice Provost for Title VI and Title IX Compliance at Johns Hopkins University. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the University's efforts to ensure compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategies to prevent and respond to incidents of discrimination and harassment based on protected characteristics.
  • Investigate complaints and provide timely and effective responses to ensure compliance with University policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with University administrators, faculty, and staff to identify and address potential issues and develop solutions to promote a culture of inclusion and respect.
  • Develop and present training programs to educate the University community on the University's obligations under Title VI and other relevant laws and regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement in the University's compliance efforts.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies and advocacy groups.
Requirements
  • JD from an accredited law school.
  • Seven or more years of experience investigating discrimination/harassment complaints in a higher education setting.
  • Prior managerial experience.
  • Exceptional writing, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, communication skills, and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to manage and work with conflict, including meeting with individuals who may be experiencing high levels of stress.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently, and to balance workload.
  • Ability and desire to work actively, collaboratively, and creatively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated expertise in applying relevant federal, state, and local laws.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing and presenting educational materials on harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
  • Ability to work across departments and interact effectively with senior leaders.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm. The successful candidate will be required to work in a hybrid environment, with some remote work possible.
