PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

The role of a Nurse Practitioner can be both physically and emotionally challenging, requiring periods of standing and critical decision-making regarding patient health. Practitioners may also encounter various pathogens, necessitating strict adherence to health protocols. Responsibilities include sitting, standing, and walking.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of new patients to identify medical conditions that may affect their recovery, including the need for medications and the identification of undiagnosed health issues.
  • Prescribe treatments for managing withdrawal symptoms, incorporating both medicinal and non-medicinal approaches.
  • Oversee chronic health conditions, ensuring referrals to appropriate healthcare providers, adjusting medications, and obtaining necessary diagnostic tests.
  • Evaluate and treat acute medical issues or injuries.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to address mental and emotional health diagnoses.
  • Educate clients and staff on disease management and self-care for chronic conditions.
  • Initiate and uphold policies related to medical procedures and medication management, as well as infection control.
  • Participate as a supportive team member in therapeutic settings for both staff and clients.
  • Maintain professional relationships with local pharmacies and healthcare providers.
  • Ensure appropriate health screenings for staff and clients, such as TB testing and vaccinations.
  • Engage in all required staff meetings.
  • Deliver medical evaluations and treatments based on established national care standards.
  • Conduct peer reviews of clinical documentation and patient records.
  • Assess clients for triage when necessary and make informed decisions.
  • Possess knowledge of medical issues related to substance abuse.
  • Provide support as needed at the request of the healthcare operations leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of a master's degree in Nursing and current APRN certification with at least two years of experience.
  • A valid and unrestricted license from the state of Kentucky is required.
  • Experience in substance abuse treatment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with various funding sources and collaboration with billing departments is advantageous.
  • Skills in crisis intervention and conflict resolution are essential.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • A valid driver's license from Kentucky is necessary.
