Security Officer On-Call

Southwestern Oregon Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Campus Security Officer to join our team. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff.
Job Summary:The Campus Security Officer will provide security services to the college community, including patrolling campus buildings and grounds, responding to emergencies, and enforcing college policies and procedures. This is a temporary, on-call position that requires a high level of flexibility and availability.
Key Responsibilities:- Patrol campus buildings and grounds to prevent and detect crime, and to ensure the safety and security of the college community.
- Respond to emergencies, including medical emergencies, fires, and other incidents that may require immediate attention.
- Enforce college policies and procedures, including the Student Conduct Code and College Safety and Security Policies.
- Provide information and assistance to students, faculty, and staff, and respond to inquiries and concerns.
- Collaborate with other college departments and external agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for the college community.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three years of experience in a security or law enforcement role, or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Valid Oregon driver's license required.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
- Certification as an unarmed private security professional through the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) required.
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
- Knowledge of relevant safety laws, regulations, and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The Campus Security Officer will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. The position requires the ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The officer will be required to wear a uniform and carry a radio and other equipment as needed.
