Job Title: Campus Security Officer

Southwestern Oregon Community College is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Campus Security Officer to join our team. As a key member of our public safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our students, faculty, and staff.

Job Summary:

The Campus Security Officer will provide security services to the college community, including patrolling campus buildings and grounds, responding to emergencies, and enforcing college policies and procedures. This is a temporary, on-call position that requires a high level of flexibility and availability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patrol campus buildings and grounds to prevent and detect crime, and to ensure the safety and security of the college community.
  • Respond to emergencies, including medical emergencies, fires, and other incidents that may require immediate attention.
  • Enforce college policies and procedures, including the Student Conduct Code and College Safety and Security Policies.
  • Provide information and assistance to students, faculty, and staff, and respond to inquiries and concerns.
  • Collaborate with other college departments and external agencies to ensure a safe and secure environment for the college community.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Three years of experience in a security or law enforcement role, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license required.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification required.
  • Certification as an unarmed private security professional through the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety laws, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions:

The Campus Security Officer will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires flexibility and adaptability. The position requires the ability to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. The officer will be required to wear a uniform and carry a radio and other equipment as needed.
