POSITION SUMMARY
The Payroll Operations Coordinator plays a vital role in managing the payroll processes of Matthews International Corporation, ensuring that employee compensation is accurate and delivered on time. This essential position demands meticulous attention to detail, robust analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, including employees and management. The Payroll Operations Coordinator must exhibit exceptional time management skills, precision, and professionalism to facilitate seamless payroll operations and foster a positive experience for all involved parties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conducts thorough audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy.
• Reconciles payroll transactions, including tax withholdings, wage garnishments, and voluntary deductions.
• Prepares and submits responses to inquiries from governmental agencies regarding employee tax matters.
• Ensures compliance with both internal and external payroll policies during transaction processing.
• Calculates and processes various deductions, including Federal and State taxes, social security contributions, union dues, and benefits.
• Reviews time entries for errors in calculation or coding.
• Monitors payroll reports for discrepancies and addresses issues promptly.
• Maintains accurate payroll records and reconciles any discrepancies.
• Processes payroll adjustments related to leave and other time-off requests.
• Generates necessary accrual entries as required.
• Responds to payroll inquiries and resolves any discrepancies.
• Stays informed about relevant laws and regulations affecting payroll administration.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of payroll experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and internet applications.
• Strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management, and planning skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to analyze and interpret information.
• Solid understanding of mathematical concepts as they apply to payroll.
• Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail and deadlines.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and see.
