Recovery and Reentry Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at the University of North Carolina. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting individuals impacted by substance use, trauma, violence, and incarceration. Your primary responsibilities will include conducting screenings, working within an interdisciplinary team, meeting with clients monthly, and documenting services provided. You will also assist with evaluating the services of the program, including compiling behavioral health information and entering it into federal and state reporting databases.
Key Responsibilities- Provide peer support services to clients engaged in Gender-Responsive Substance Use Disorder Reentry Services
- Engage in ethical service delivery and practices as required by all auditing bodies
- Foster hope and healing among individuals impacted by SUD, trauma, violence, and incarceration through story-telling and strengths-based skills
- Assist clients at the time of release from incarceration, 1:1 monthly session, and ensuring a detailed comprehensive discharge planning
- Attend Horizons' weekly interdisciplinary meetings and individual supervision, and other team meetings
- Document services delivered in adherence to program productivity standards
- Bachelor's degree in a Human Services discipline with coursework related to the area of assignment
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and have the ability to connect with individuals/clients at the time of reentry
- Must be knowledgeable of the impact of trauma, stigma, substance use, and incarceration among pregnant, parenting, and single women
- Has a direct experience or knowledge of substance use during pregnancy, substance use and incarceration, and exposure to social work or counseling experience
- Holds an addiction credential from the NCSAPPB (CADC, CADC-R, LCASA)
- Experience working within an interdisciplinary team
