The primary goal of this role is to ensure that we provide an exceptional luxury experience for every customer by meeting all service and quality standards associated with alterations. This includes delivering outstanding quality and adhering to scheduled deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a vital link between the sales team and tailoring staff to ensure smooth and efficient alteration processes.
  • Foster strong working relationships among tailors, sales associates, and customers.
  • Collaborate with tailors and customers to address any re-alteration issues promptly, ensuring alterations are prioritized and resolved effectively.
  • Plan shop dates based on operational capacity and anticipate busy periods throughout the year.
  • Guarantee that all garments are finished by the designated shop date and delivered to the correct location when necessary.
  • Provide a monthly schedule that aligns with business needs, particularly during peak hours and special occasions.
  • Ensure that all altered merchandise meets Ralph Lauren's high standards through a rigorous quality control process.
  • Work closely with Store Management to manage the Alteration Tracking System, ensuring accurate reflection of income and productivity in monthly reports and P&L statements.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager to address performance-related matters concerning tailoring staff.
  • Oversee training initiatives for fitters and tailors to reduce re-alterations within the department. Engage with sales associates and managers to enhance understanding of shop dates and common versus uncommon alterations.
  • Partner with the General Manager to create quarterly training workshops for teams.
  • Supervise the alterations department, ensuring a coordinated workflow.
  • Responsible for the training and development of staff, teaching fitters the correct marking techniques.
  • Oversee recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of staff to optimize performance, coaching and mentoring them to uphold exceptional customer service standards.
  • Conduct educational sessions on alteration policies for various departments within the store.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs with the Operations Manager as needed.
  • Manage scheduling and vacation calendars to ensure adequate staffing coverage.
  • Handle special requests from customers with care.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • At least 5 years of experience in luxury retail.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and precise.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
