Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid/Scholarships is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Scholarships department, including the administration of Federal, State, Institutional, and private scholarships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations and special projects, tracking, analyzing, and explaining the schools aid and disbursement portfolios.
  • Assist with the annual audit on scholarships.
  • Ensure reconciliations on all scholarship accounts are done on a monthly basis.
  • Assist with creating efficiencies as well as creating institutional policies and procedures based on federal, state, and institutional regulations as it pertains to scholarships.
  • Maintain student confidentiality in accordance with FERPA regulations.

Reporting Structure

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid/Scholarships reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid/Compliance and is responsible for monitoring, reporting, and analyzing institutional and departmental scholarship utilization as well as managing the set up and maintenance of all funds in the Talladega College information system.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Expert knowledge of Federal and State financial aid programs.
  • Familiarity with technical aspects of administering scholarship programs.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential material and maintain integrity and confidentiality of data.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively, decisively, and flexibly in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in higher education, business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated Federal Student Aid, scholarship, and supervisory experience.
  • Experience using ARMS, Powerfaids, Jenzabar and any other college information systems.
