POSITION SUMMARY: This role is an entry to mid-level quality assurance position responsible for overseeing the quality of materials and products by adhering to established protocols, conducting initial inspections, and assisting the production team with quality-related matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To excel in this position, an individual must effectively carry out the following essential duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed:
- Support the achievement of quality and cost objectives.
- Develop and implement quality control strategies.
- Monitor both internal and external quality metrics.
- Prepare and submit documentation required by customers, including First Articles, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs), and Production Parts Approval Process (PPAPs).
- Participate as a team member in internal ISO audits.
- Engage in root cause analysis and formulate corrective action plans.
- Oversee operations to ensure compliance with production standards.
- Propose modifications to the assembly or production processes as necessary.
- Conduct inspections, tests, and measurements to confirm adherence to specifications using tools such as rulers, calipers, gauges, micrometers, and CMM equipment.
- Perform in-process inspections and verify parts on the production floor as required.
- Remove non-conforming products and materials from the production line.
- Communicate inspection results with relevant personnel.
- Document and report inspection and testing data.
- Receive and assess raw materials for quality.
- Ensure compliance with ISO standards and procedures.
- Carry out additional tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: The following qualifications are essential for this role:
- Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others in a positive manner.
- Capability to articulate quality-related questions and issues with all levels of personnel.
- Proven ability to follow instructions, schedules, and manage multiple priorities.
- Familiarity with various MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Good mathematical skills related to physical measurements of products.
- Proficiency in English sufficient to perform job functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma, GED, or Trade School certification.
- Minimum of two years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in sheet metal or machining.
- A diploma or associate degree in Quality Assurance or a related field, along with 2+ years of experience in a similar role, with a solid understanding of GD&T preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and production drawings.
