Referral Coordinator

The Referral Coordinator is a critical member of our team, responsible for ensuring seamless patient access to our dialysis services. This role requires strong administrative skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Referral Processing: Process new patient referrals through our Central Registration System (CRS), ensuring accuracy of patient personal and insurance information.
- Insurance Verification: Complete insurance benefit verifications via phone or online verification tools to confirm patient benefits, specific to the referred clinic, to determine acceptance to the clinic.
- Documentation and Signature: Work with clinic staff to ensure proper documentation for patient verifications is obtained, and obtain patient and/or representative signatures on admission documentation as needed.
- Communication and Escalation: Act as the first point of contact for patient's benefit or network status questions, escalating difficult conversations as necessary.
- Account Management: Ensure completeness and accuracy of patient accounts in our billing system, QMS, and resolve billing rejections related to patient demographic information.
- International Patient Support: Educate patients on financial responsibility while traveling internationally and draft corresponding agreements for signature.
- Authorization and Reporting: Initiate requests for authorization as needed based on insurance requirements and clinic network status, and complete and maintain region and/or clinic specific reports.
- Compliance and Confidentiality: Ensure compliance with CMS coordination of benefits rules and maintain confidentiality of all data, including patient, employee, and operational data.
- Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Adapt to change, alternate between tasks as needed, and stay current with department changes and updates, willingly learning new skills.
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 years of experience in a similar administrative setting (referral coordinator/benefits coordinator/admissions coordinator)
