Clinical Assistant Professor

The University of Wyoming invites applications for a non-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor position to co-lead the Foundations of Clinical Medicine (FCM) course for first-year and second-year medical students. The successful candidate will join a team in Laramie dedicated to high-quality medical education, in coordination with the University of Washington School of Medicine.
Job Purpose:The Clinical Assistant Professor will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating clinical medicine instruction as part of a collaborative team. This includes scheduling session facilitators, instructing or attending FCM sessions, ensuring session learning objective coverage, monitoring and grading student FCM assignments, and coordinating student preceptor assignments for the FCM Primary Care Practicum.
Responsibilities:- Co-lead the Foundations of Clinical Medicine (FCM) course
- Schedule session facilitators and instruct or attend FCM sessions
- Ensure session learning objective coverage and monitor and grade student FCM assignments
- Coordinate student preceptor assignments for the FCM Primary Care Practicum
- Work with other units in the University of Wyoming College of Health Sciences to schedule use of shared clinical instruction space
- Coordinate specialty skills workshops and hospital clinical instruction at Ivinson Memorial Hospital
- Ensure proper credentialing of students per Ivinson Memorial Hospital, Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, and University of Washington School of Medicine standards
- Earned medical degree (MD/DO) with completed medical residency and board certification or board eligibility
- Demonstrated interest in teaching
- Instructional experience in a medical education curriculum
- Current or past patient care responsibilities with a description of state licensure status
- Experience with collegiality and collaboration in an inter-professional environment
- Skills and experience to foster and maintain a safe learning and work environment that is welcoming to all learners and colleagues
- Instructional experience with clinical skills including physical exam, oral case presentation, ultrasound and other medical imaging, professional identity formation, or other topics relevant to our FCM course
