Assistant Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering

Job Summary:

The University of Wyoming is seeking a highly qualified and motivated Assistant Professor of Nuclear Science and Engineering to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a nationally recognized research program in nuclear engineering, teach undergraduate and graduate coursework, and contribute to departmental and university-wide governance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and oversee an externally funded research program of significant relevance to nuclear engineering.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate coursework in nuclear science and engineering.
  • Contribute to departmental and university-wide governance.
Competencies:
  • Ability to develop coursework and teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Ability to design, secure funding for, and mentor students in the execution of research projects related to nuclear engineering.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., materials science, nuclear engineering, mechanical engineering).
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the University Vehicle Use Policy.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Postdoctoral research experience.
  • A strong track record of research accomplishments in their respective field supported by peer-reviewed publications and conference proceedings.

  • A detailed CV.
  • Research Statement (< 5 Pages) - Discuss your plans for establishing an independent, externally funded research program in Nuclear Science or Engineering.
  • Teaching Statement (< 2 Pages) - Describe your teaching philosophy and interests.
