The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled Research and Administrative Operations Specialist to join their team in the Department of Medicine at the University of Virginia.

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced individual to work with faculty researchers, providing pre-award, post-award or a combination of grants and contracts job duties. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing multiple faculty grant portfolios, including proposal submissions, monitoring activities, and expenditures on research projects.

This role requires strong communication skills as you will work closely with different entities and personnel within the University, such as the Office of Grants and Contracts, the School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, and the Office of Sponsored Programs.

You will be responsible for advising faculty in the preparation and submission of proposals, collecting required data, preparing budgets, and ensuring proper set up and oversight of internally funded grants.

In addition, you will coordinate and review effort reporting, conduct direct negotiations with external sponsoring agencies, supervise and train rising professionals, provide financial forecasts, and perform monthly grant expenditure reviews.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a proactive mindset, ability to analyze budgetary line items, human relations, leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment.

We offer a competitive salary of $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • At least three years of grant and contract experience
  • Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification is preferred
