About the Job
  • Oversee a team of equipment operators, skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled workers in the extension, repair, and maintenance of water lines, mains, and fire hydrants.
  • Investigate and resolve complaints of faulty operators and/or damages to the water distribution system.
  • Operate a Parish vehicle, requiring a Class D license, and maintain an acceptable driving record.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Meet one of the following options:
    • Current employment with Jefferson Parish and permanent civil service status in a classification involving responsibility for assisting with the maintenance and repair of J.P. Public Works sub-surface utility lines.
    • Possession of a high school diploma/equivalent and two (2) years of paid work experience in the maintenance and repair of municipal, sub-surface utility lines.
    • Possession of a valid Class I (or higher) Water or Wastewater Operator Certification given by the Louisiana State Department of Health.
