Ambulatory Care Nurse Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ambulatory Care Nurse to join our team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. As an Ambulatory Care Nurse, you will provide direct nursing care to patients in an outpatient setting, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout their treatment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver safe and effective care to patients, adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, incorporating age-specific considerations.
  • Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained.
  • Participate in orientation and evaluation of new personnel, enhancing professional growth and development.
  • Ensure patient medical records contain necessary information, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for patients and families.
Qualifications:
  • Essential:
    • Program Graduate
    • Training
    • Licensed Practical Nurse in NM or reciprocal agreement
    • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer within 30 days
    • Basic Arrhythmia Certification within 1 year
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 1 year
  • Nonessential:
    • Bilingual English, Spanish, Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo
Physical Conditions:

Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. Chemicals, Bio Hazardous Materials require PPE.
