KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare a variety of meals based on dietary guidelines established for each dining occasion.
  • Utilize various kitchen appliances and tools to ensure efficient meal preparation.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas post-shift, including sweeping, sanitizing surfaces, and properly storing food items.
  • Craft meals tailored for senior residents, ensuring large-scale production using institutional-grade cookware.
  • Work diligently to guarantee timely meal readiness throughout the day.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols within the kitchen environment.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is kept in pristine condition.
  • Assist in filling staffing gaps as needed within the kitchen team.
  • Report maintenance issues promptly to the appropriate department.
  • Interpret and follow menu instructions accurately.
  • Prepare meals in alignment with established menus and standardized recipes.
  • Support the food service line to ensure dietary needs are met, including specialized and therapeutic diets.
  • Monitor portion sizes during meal service to maintain appropriate serving standards.
  • Assist with dietary modifications and new diet implementations.
  • Ensure meals are prepared and served punctually.
  • Provide alternatives for residents who decline the offered meals.
  • Effectively clean and sanitize dishes, pots, and pans.
  • Document freezer and refrigerator temperatures according to established protocols.
  • Check inventory levels as necessary.
  • Organize stock appropriately.
  • Store cleaning supplies in designated areas.
  • Set up and manage the tray line service.
  • Return trays to the kitchen as requested.
  • Understand and implement dietary orders.
  • Follow specific dietary restrictions as outlined.
  • Process and record dietary orders accurately.
  • Manage menu substitutions and document them according to guidelines.
  • Store leftover food properly.
  • Prepare beverages as requested.
  • Adhere to procedures for serving staff meals.
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, including carts, tables, and cooking appliances.
  • Utilize appropriate serving tools effectively.
  • Monitor and record water temperatures for dishwashing and food preparation.
  • Check dishwasher sanitizer levels regularly.
  • Ensure chemical supplies are replenished as needed.
  • Follow operational procedures for kitchen equipment.
  • Promote a positive image of the organization through exemplary service and communication.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts within committees and project teams.
  • Perform additional tasks as necessary to support the organization’s success.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with colleagues, residents, and visitors.
  • Ability to address concerns with a caring and professional demeanor.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

SUPERVISORY ROLE

No supervisory responsibilities.

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

Ability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural documents. Capable of writing routine reports and communicating effectively with groups.

MATH SKILLS

Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations in various measurement units.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense to follow written and verbal instructions and to solve problems in standardized situations.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word is required.
