Position: Senior Risk Manager - Customer Resiliency Risk Events (Hybrid)

As a Senior Risk Manager within Capital One's Customer Resiliency division, you will utilize your expertise in risk management, process optimization, project oversight, and analytical evaluation to enhance our most critical Risk Management initiatives.

Your leadership will guide a team of risk professionals who are integral to the continuous oversight of our Enterprise Event and Issue Standard, ensuring the ongoing stability and success of Capital One.

In this role, you will collaborate with Executives and their teams to assess risks in a transparent and cooperative environment, where innovative ideas and solutions are encouraged and recognized. You will also lead a team of associates dedicated to monitoring and evaluating the health of our operations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize data analytics to manage risk and enhance visibility into business health, while identifying best practices and lessons learned related to the Event & Issue management framework.
  • Engage collaboratively with internal stakeholders and our risk community (including risk managers, risk leads, IRM groups, business risk offices, and frontline process owners) to refine our risk event methodologies and promote learning.
  • Oversee a team of risk managers responsible for the risk event lifecycle, encompassing root cause analysis, containment, remediation, and recovery efforts.
  • Devise actionable solutions to enhance risk event management processes through the use of data and technology.
  • Work effectively across various organizations beyond Customer Resiliency, such as Operational Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Business Risk Offices, Legal, Internal Audit, and Regulator Relations, to achieve objectives for the Customer Resiliency business.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent military experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Risk Management, Process Management, or Project Management.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a People Management role.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree.
  • Process Management Certification (e.g., LEAN, Six Sigma).
  • Compliance Certification (e.g., CRCM, CIPP).
  • 7+ years of experience in Business Process Management.
  • 7+ years of experience in Project Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in People Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in Risk Management.

This position is hybrid, meaning associates typically spend about half their time (2-3 days per week) in-person at one of our offices. Mondays and Fridays are designated as virtual workdays, while Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are in-person days for associates to collaborate in our well-designed team environments.
