Hybrid Work Environment in Virginia

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute accounting functions, including the review and analysis of financial statements, ledgers, reconciliations, and related accounts to ensure adherence to industry standards.
  • Oversee monthly closing processes, including the examination and monitoring of entries in the Trial Balance, Balance Sheet, and Income Statement accounts, along with the posting of necessary adjustments.
  • Conduct account reconciliations, analytics, and variance analyses, providing adequate supporting documentation.
  • Utilize comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Accounting Standard Codification (ASC) in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and ASC by applying accounting standards in the preparation of financial statements.
  • Identify simplifying assumptions and accounting methods, addressing instances of incorrect GAAP/ASC application; assess the impact and propose solutions.
  • Perform detailed analyses to identify, isolate, and resolve discrepancies, contributing to quality control and process enhancement.
  • Investigate and resolve complex discrepancies, data entry errors, and imbalances; prepare and present recommendations for immediate actions or policy changes to mitigate losses.
  • Conduct research to assist with inquiries from internal and external auditors.
  • Carry out variance analyses and generate reports with appropriate justifications.
  • Apply extensive knowledge and experience in financial accounting and management, including a thorough understanding of techniques for analyzing and reporting financial information.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in public or private accounting, applying complex accounting treatments and resolving intricate accounting issues.
  • Proficient in researching technical accounting matters and making recommendations for the application and implementation of accounting principles.
  • Significant experience and expertise in data querying, research, and reporting.
  • Experience in managing complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to present findings and conclusions in a clear and concise manner.
  • Advanced proficiency in PC applications, particularly Microsoft Office, including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
  • Exceptional skill in managing multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Expert in maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to validate the accuracy and applicability of underlying data.
  • Demonstrated skill in presenting complex financial information clearly and concisely.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
