Job Summary

As a Trade Specialist at King's Daughters, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment, as well as the physical structure and grounds of the Medical Center. This includes engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, HVAC systems, machines, and equipment.

Duties and Essential Functions

• Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspect used parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repair or replace defective parts.
• Install special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricate and clean parts.
• Repair electrical equipment.
• Initiate purchase orders for parts and machines.

• Install items such as window shades, blinds, curtain rods/track, televisions, and door hardware.
• Install glass in windows, doors, and partitions.
• Replace damaged ceiling tiles, grid, floor tile, and wall coverings.
• Build, repair, and install countertops, cabinets, benches, partitions, shelving units, furniture, flooring, framing, doors, and trim.
• Repair partitions, hang, and finish drywall, painting, and wallcovering.

• Complete PMs and reactive maintenance repairs requiring skills in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; mechanical repairs - pumps, motors; plumbing; electrical; instrumentation.
• Maintain and complete CMs on HVAC equipment within the health system.
• Thoroughly and accurately complete reactive and preventative maintenance paperwork.
• Start devices to test their performance.
• Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.

• Maintain clean grounds, walks, and driveways by completing tasks such as mowing and trimming lawns, shrubs, and trees; removing litter; clearing snow; clearing leaves and drainage; and keeping related equipment in proper function.
• Provide office fixture installation (pictures, bulletin boards, etc.).
• Move offices, equipment, and/or supplies into or out of the Medical Center as directed.

Education/License/Certifications/Other Requirements

• Minimum requirement: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Current driver's license.
• One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• KY Journeyman's Electrician, HVAC, or Plumbing license (minimum of one license).

• Preferred qualifications: Three to six months related experience and/or training; Associate in Applied Science.

Working Environment

• Constantly works near moving mechanical parts.
• Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals.
• Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat.
• Frequently exposed to a risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibrations.

Physical Demands

• Frequently required to move about throughout the department and facility.
• Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
• Occasionally required to operate a computer and other equipment.
• Constantly required to stand.
• Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crawl, or crouch.
• Frequently required to lift and/or move 50 pounds.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move 100 pounds.
