Job Overview

Context Labs is seeking a seasoned technical professional to drive the development of our EdgeShare Platform and analytics capabilities. As a Principal Backend Engineer, you will lead the engineering team and contribute to the design and implementation of our big data systems, APIs, and product capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the EdgeShare engineering team and provide technical guidance and oversight.
  • Design and develop data systems and services for the Immutably Platform.
  • Collaborate with development teams and product owners to define and estimate business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain performant, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality code standards.
  • Lead technical talks and presentations on large-scale systems and processes.
Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience in big data systems development.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • End-to-end understanding of modern application architectures.
  • Big picture orientation with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with modern data processing systems, such as Spark, Flink, and Arrow.
  • Experience with large-scale query processing systems and machine learning processes.
  • Proficiency with JVM languages, including Scala and Python.
  • Experience with Docker-based microservice architectures and Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or equivalent RDBMS.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with functional programming.
  • Experience with languages other than Java.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
