Job Summary

Children and Families First Delaware Inc is seeking a qualified Early Childhood Educator to join our team as an Early Head Start Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and responsive environment that promotes the social, emotional, and cognitive development of children aged 0-3 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement daily lesson plans that are aligned with the Early Head Start program's goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with a co-teacher to ensure the successful operation of a classroom with a total of 6-8 children.
  • Work with families and colleagues to achieve meaningful progress for each child along their unique developmental path and towards school readiness goals.
  • Implement developmentally and linguistically appropriate experiences that cater to the age, language, and culture of the children served.
  • Responsible for collaborating with a partner Teacher in the preparation of daily lesson plans.
  • Provide children with a consistent classroom routine that is responsive to individual infants and toddlers' needs.
  • Create a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive and development of social and emotional competencies.
  • Implement a daily lesson plans, and child-centered curriculum and learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation to promote development in all domains for children of all abilities.
  • Implement Individual Family Services Plans (IFSPs) for children with disabilities.
  • Use observations of children and anecdotal notes to document children's progress and individualize curriculum.
  • Support the social and emotional development of children.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED, Infant/Toddler CDA with at least 120 training hours in Infant/Toddler content plus at least 480 hours of experience working with infant and toddlers.
  • Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (desirable).
  • Understanding of the infant-toddler development as well as age-appropriate expectations for pro-social behaviors.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy skills, using MS Office applications and other basic data systems including internet navigation.
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Physical exam, TB and Drug Screening and criminal background, required.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the agency's service population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Must have valid driver's license which meets the requirements of the agency's insurance carrier.
