Role Overview:
The Process Control Engineer plays a crucial role in fostering a safe and injury-free work environment while promoting excellence across all operational areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the effective operation of the mill's control systems, both hardware and software.
Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow engineers and technicians.
Establish and maintain comprehensive record-keeping systems within assigned responsibilities.
Assist in troubleshooting processes and maintenance issues, including Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
Manage alarm systems within the designated area.
Support the mill-wide implementation of Instrument and Electrical Precision Maintenance (IEPM) initiatives.
Offer process and maintenance assistance for environmental systems.
Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to resolve process-related challenges.
Assist in troubleshooting and repairing control and instrumentation systems.
Engage with operations to rectify operator interface issues and develop familiarity with graphics creation.
Drive process optimization through innovative control strategies.
Participate actively in the IEPM process.
Be available for weekend, night, and after-hours duties to provide technical and leadership support, including during startups.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will possess:
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in a continuous process environment.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in process control or engineering.
Strong foundational knowledge in controls engineering and control systems.
Interpersonal skills essential for collaboration within a diverse and non-union setting.
Ability to work effectively with various stakeholders and build strong team relationships.
Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and listening), along with organizational and planning capabilities, are crucial.
Proven ability to thrive with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment.Core Competencies:
