Accounting Services and Tax Manager Job Description

Marcum LLP is seeking an experienced Accounting Services and Tax Manager to join our growing national firm in Costa Mesa, CA. This role requires a strong accounting professional with excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-level review and compilation services for clients, including financial statement preparation and tax return review.
  • Develop an understanding of clients' businesses, anticipating and addressing their concerns.
  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing processes, including journal entry preparation and financial analysis.
  • Consult with clients on accounting activities, including revenue recognition, accounts payable and receivable procedures, and payroll processing.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, optimizing operating and accounting procedures.
  • Project manage client assignments, utilizing effective project management techniques and resource organization to achieve objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years of experience, with 2+ years of significant supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of accounting systems, including Excel and QuickBooks, with experience with ProSystem fx Engagement a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial accounting and GAAP, as well as sales tax, property tax, 1099s, and payroll tax.
  • Experience with process management and understanding of transaction flow.
  • QB Online and Desktop experience required, with tax preparation experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including Excel and Word proficiency, and ability to learn and interface with other accounting software as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills, with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
