Job Summary:

Marcum LLP is seeking a seasoned Tax Director to join our national firm in a leadership role. As a Tax Director, you will be responsible for providing expert tax guidance to clients in the real estate and construction industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical expertise to perform thorough reviews of tax returns, ensuring all relevant issues are identified and resolved.
  • Manage compliance engagements, from scheduling to staff supervision.
  • Conduct research and draft memoranda on real estate and construction-related tax issues.
  • Train and supervise staff, reviewing and evaluating their work.
  • Collaborate with clients to provide innovative tax planning, consulting, and compliance services.
  • Represent clients before taxing authorities in federal or state examinations.
  • Supervise staff development, training, and mentorship, including performance and engagement reviews.
  • Contribute to practice development efforts and provide on-the-job training to subordinates.
  • Assist Partners with engagement budget preparation and review staff work product.
  • Work closely with Partners, Senior Managers, Managers, and staff on client management, professional development, and business development activities.
  • Attend professional development and continuing education sessions.

Requirements:

  • Masters in Taxation preferred.
  • CPA license required.
  • 7 or more years of public accounting experience with a real estate or construction emphasis.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Strong judgment and ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding work ethic and willingness to work collaboratively.
  • Strong writing skills for responding to tax notices.
  • Ability to review engagements and manage multiple clients.
  • Knowledge of S Corporation, partnership, and individual taxation a plus.
  • Knowledge of CCH Axcess, GoFileRoom, CCH ProSystem fx Engagement a plus.
  • Specialization in real estate/construction and experience in preparation and review of individual and corporate returns and flow-through entity tax areas for the real estate/construction industry.

Compensation Range:

Salary: $180,000.00 - $215,000.00
