Position Title: Family Support Worker

Work Location: Westfield, MA

Role Summary:

The Family Support Worker (FSW) at the Westfield Family Resource Center plays a crucial role in providing families with essential information and educational resources. The FSW is responsible for creating the Family Resource Center (FRC) calendar and facilitating support groups for both parents and youth. Additionally, the FSW recruits and supports volunteers to lead specialized support groups as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the needs and strengths of families seeking assistance; utilize a strength-based approach to engage and support them.
  • Collaborate with local community service providers to offer referrals, resources, and advocacy for families.
  • Promote public awareness of the FRC and develop outreach strategies to attract families.
  • Facilitate family and youth support groups; involve parents in leadership development through workshops and training.
  • Plan and develop the FRC calendar; actively participate in community events and coalition activities.
  • Represent the FRC at community and state-wide networking events and conferences.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree is required.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in a community setting using a family-centered, strength-based approach.
  • Valid driver's license and compliance with agency driving history and background check requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related office technologies.
  • Bilingual candidates (Spanish/English) are preferred.
