Westfield Gardens Nursing and Rehab is in search of a dedicated Recreational Activities Coordinator to join our skilled nursing team.

The primary role involves organizing and facilitating engaging activities for our residents, under the guidance of the Activities Director.

Work Schedule: Part-Time, approximately 15 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

The Recreational Activities Coordinator plays a vital role in addressing the emotional, social, and recreational needs of our residents on an individual basis.

  • Assist residents in completing daily living activities, such as writing letters, making phone calls, and engaging in civic activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of residents' participation and progress in activities.
  • Support mail distribution, accompany residents to activity sessions, care for plants and pets within the facility, assist in creating the monthly newsletter, and contribute to fundraising initiatives.
  • Implement and oversee a variety of activities designed to entertain, promote communication, provide exercise, and fulfill the psychological, social, and spiritual needs of residents as outlined by the Activities Director.
  • Provide necessary craft supplies and materials, supervising residents during creative activities.
  • Encourage residents to explore their creativity through crafts, painting, and other artistic endeavors.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Experience in long-term care or working with elderly or disabled individuals is advantageous.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
