Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Underground Division at Griffith Company. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and timely estimates for private and public works projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform project start-up duties, including reviewing proposal specifications, drawings, and site conditions.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and oversee the good faith effort process.
  • Coordinate bid preparation requirements with the Contract Administrator.
  • Perform risk and contract management responsibilities, reporting findings to the Chief Estimator and Division Manager.
  • Track work history and coordinate pre-bid RFI's.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-offs of scope of work.
  • Coordinate the estimating effort for assigned bids/projects.
  • Maintain files of working documents and monitor post-bid submission dates.
  • Ensure proper project handoff if the project is taken over by another Project Manager/Team.
  • Coordinate scope of work with other Griffith Divisions and subcontractors.
  • Interface with Owners and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data.
  • Draft subcontract agreements and coordinate subcontract and purchase order administration.
  • Prepare budgets, subcontracts, purchase orders, and assist in preliminary project schedules.
  • Follow awarded contracts, including estimating extra work items, change orders, and credits.
  • Mentor and manage Junior Estimators and Interns.
  • Take an active role in managing Owner relations and business development.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and computer skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience in a heavy civil environment, with wet utilities experience.
  • Proficient in understanding staging/phasing and project scope.
  • Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to master Bid2Win Estimating software, Blue Beam, Agtek, and SketchUp.
  • Valid driver's license.
