Program Specialist - Developmental Disabilities

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Program Specialist to join our team at the Center for Developmentally Disabled. As a Program Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in their own homes throughout the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directly supervise and train Residential Specialists to ensure high-quality care and services.
  • Implement and monitor individualized services based on Person-Centered Support Plan (PCSP) principles.
  • Act as the primary contact person with service coordination entities to ensure PCSPs align with Missouri Quality Outcomes.
  • Ensure timely completion of Annual Plan-related documentation and maintain accurate records.
  • Conduct monthly site visits to review resident progress, medical records, and documentation.
  • Complete monthly directives and submit to Residential Specialists.
  • Assist with peer reviews and ensure staff adherence to agency documentation policies.
  • Lead the completion of HIPS/APTS in accordance with DMH required timelines.
  • Submit required documentation for nursing audits and group home PS competes CIST notes.
  • Coach program staff in behavior management, crisis intervention, and behavioral counseling.
  • Ensure the Lead Direct Support Professional submits relevant sections of monthly reports.
  • Provide monthly in-service trainings and facilitate staff development to ensure quality care and services.
  • Conduct in-home skills training to DSPs as needed.
  • Serve as the contact person for relaying house/programmatic information to the Program Director.
  • Alter personal schedule to observe all program operations.
  • Attend meetings as required at each location.
  • Assist with completing and reviewing staff evaluations with Residential Specialists.
  • Be on-call for occasional or extended absences of Residential Specialists.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in education, rehabilitation, social, or behavioral science field with minimum 2 years of supervisory experience with persons with developmental disabilities.
  • Master's degree in education, rehabilitation, social, or behavioral science field preferred with two years of program management and staff supervisory experience.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass medication, adult CPR, and First Aid classes.
  • Your own car and car insurance.
  • Experience in the developmental disabilities field.
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds consistently, 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
