POSITION SUMMARY


The Pharmacy Director oversees the strategic and clinical management of pharmacy services as outlined in the organizational framework. This role ensures that all operations across various programs, services, and locations are streamlined and effective. The Director is attuned to community health needs and addresses them accordingly, fostering an environment that aligns with the organization's Mission and Strategic Goals. Clear communication of these objectives to staff is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. *Upholds the mission, vision, and core values of the organization.

  2. *Develops and implements strategies for the 340B Drug Pricing Program across all relevant locations, collaborating with finance and legal teams to ensure compliance.

  3. *Provides leadership across all programs, services, and departments within the organization.

  4. *Implements measures to guarantee safe medication delivery and administration.

  5. *Ensures consistent application of the patient care delivery model and organizational values.

  6. *Evaluates pharmaceutical usage in terms of volume and cost, ensuring adequate supplies are maintained.

  7. *Aligns clinical staff resources with patient care needs and promotes interdepartmental collaboration.

  8. *Serves as a mentor for pharmacy students and addresses concerns from patients, families, and staff.

  9. *Communicates results from patient and employee satisfaction surveys and formulates improvement plans.

  10. *Maintains current licenses and certifications for staff in compliance with regulations.

  11. *Facilitates orientation and ongoing education for staff, including partnerships with academic programs.

  12. *Selects products for pharmacy contracts and negotiates pricing agreements to optimize costs.

  13. *Conducts performance evaluations for management and staff, providing constructive feedback.

  14. *Engages with pharmacy organizations and medical professionals on relevant issues.

  15. *Implements effective recruitment and retention strategies for staffing.

  16. *Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and compliance plans.

  17. *Monitors operational metrics and develops corrective action plans as necessary.

  18. *Participates in committees and task forces to foster collaborative problem-solving.

  19. *Continually enhances professional competence through ongoing education and participation in industry events.

  20. *Contributes to organizational improvement initiatives and performs additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD) is required.
  • Master's degree in Hospital Pharmacy Administration, MBA, or MHA is required or must be obtained within a specified timeframe.
  • Active pharmacist licensure in the relevant state is required.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in hospital pharmacy practice is necessary.
  • At least three years of management experience in a pharmacy setting is required.
  • Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency is preferred.
  • Experience with the 340B program is preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficient knowledge of pharmacy distribution systems and financial management.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and quality improvement methodologies.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Able to establish effective working relationships across various levels of the organization.
  • Capable of managing diverse responsibilities and prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
