Position Summary

Under the guidance of the Production Supervisor and in collaboration with the Team Leader, the Assembly Mechanic will safely execute a variety of tasks to accurately assemble, fit, and connect components in the production of large mechanical products, adhering to specifications and production timelines while exercising independent judgment with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize tools effectively to create or repair components and products.
  • Work collaboratively with fellow assembly workers to produce high-quality products.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Identify defective items and manage them according to established procedures.

Essential Duties
  • Clean and assemble component parts, machined parts, and subassemblies.
  • Employ various hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic tools, and precision measuring instruments to complete tasks.
  • Remove imperfections from parts using hand files, hone stones, or portable pneumatic grinders.
  • Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to transport parts and materials and to assemble large components.
  • Perform minor adjustments, repairs, or setups to machinery under supervision.
  • Execute all job functions safely, in line with plant safety standards, and report any issues to the team leader or supervisor.
  • Other assigned duties may include basic welding, cleaning, priming, and painting of components or assemblies.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 0-2 years of experience in heavy equipment manufacturing is desirable.
  • Understanding of mechanical concepts, practices, and procedures is required.
  • Relevant trade school or college coursework is preferred.
  • Ability to accurately use and interpret a tape measure and read job-related blueprints.
  • Proficient in reading drawings and blueprints.
  • Capable of operating overhead cranes and forklifts.
  • Basic computer skills are desirable, particularly in file management.
  • Dependable and dedicated to completing tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to new challenges.
  • Ability to work independently with clear instructions and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills to express needs and ask questions.
  • Ability to follow detailed written and/or oral instructions.
  • Capacity to meet production standards and deadlines.
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback and make necessary adjustments.

Work Environment

The position is situated in a manufacturing environment where exposure to mechanical parts, machinery, tools, and equipment is common. Employees may encounter vibrations, fumes, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions. The noise level can be high, necessitating hearing protection.
