JOB OVERVIEW:
This role involves executing a variety of electro-mechanical assembly tasks on components and sub-components. The specialist will determine and adhere to methods and sequences for operations including wiring, component installation, circuit board setup, hand soldering, and cable harness assembly. Precision in setups and adjustments is essential to meet blueprint specifications. The ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and parts lists alongside assembly instructions is crucial for creating both sub-assemblies and top-assemblies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specialist will utilize assembly tools to perform designated tasks. Responsibilities may include assembling cable assemblies and circuit boards, executing various mechanical assembly tasks, and proficiently using power tools. Detailed instructions will be provided for all assignments, and the specialist will apply job skills and company policies to complete a diverse range of tasks.
PROBLEM COMPLEXITY:
Assignments are typically routine, requiring limited judgment.
IMPACT:
Contributions are generally confined to assignment-related activities.
COLLABORATION:
Daily interactions with supervisors, peers, and clients are expected. The specialist may also take on a leadership role and provide training to others.
Key Responsibilities:
As an Electromechanical Assembly Specialist, you will oversee all activities associated with the assembly of electronic components.
Specific Duties may include:
- Non-repetitive assembly tasks
- Interpreting diagrams and drawings
- Mechanical assembly
- Soldering to J-STD-001 standards
- Constructing prototype assemblies
- Cable assembly
- Circuit board assembly
- Complex wiring
- Utilizing hand and power tools
- Employing manufacturing software and Microsoft Office for documentation
- Maintaining thorough documentation for future reference
- Ability to collaborate and learn within a team environment.
- Experience working with various functional departments.
- High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with soldering and assembling electronic components, along with knowledge of industry standards including ESD practices.
- Possession of J-STD-001 and IPC620 soldering Certification or capability to obtain (employment contingent upon certification).
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and follow written instructions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- Experience with Costpoint is advantageous.
- Adherence to safety protocols.
- Capability to lift 25 lbs. with assistance.
- Experience in a defense contracting environment with multiple ongoing projects/contracts.
- Current J-STD-001 soldering Certification (not mandatory).
- Experience in rework processes.
- 2 to 5 years of experience in cable assembly, including reading drawings and cable run sheets, and using hand crimp tools.
- Knowledge of the electronics industry, including familiarity with connectors such as Molex, Tyco, AMP, Cannon, JST, Hirose, and Mil spec.
- 2 to 5 years of experience soldering PC board surface mount and through-hole components.
- IPC-620 and IPC-J-STD-001 certifications are preferred but not required.
Successful completion of a background investigation and drug urinalysis is required for eligibility for this position.
