Job Summary

Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Diagnostic Imaging Technologist to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing specialized ultrasound and vascular procedures, as well as providing leadership and guidance to our team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including common and special exams, and vascular ultrasound exams.
  • Provide direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique.
  • Assess, identify, and respond to the needs of patients for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality, and patient experience.
  • Modify technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognize complications and limitations associated with certain procedures.
  • Serve as liaison between team members, management, and physicians, resolving routine matters for the shift and modality.
  • Assist physicians during procedures and provide accurate explanations and instructions to patients and family members at an appropriate level.
Leadership and Teamwork
  • Lead and initiate problem resolution within the work unit.
  • Facilitate teamwork by coordinating department needs and responding positively to requests for assistance.
  • Role-model skills, through peer-to-peer accountability, to contribute towards improving department efficiencies and customer satisfaction.
Quality and Safety
  • Follow safety standards and conduct all imaging procedures.
  • Maintain proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practice aseptic techniques, and ensure compliance with infection control procedures.
  • Comply with job, department, and hospital safety standards, practices, and policies.
  • Identify opportunities for corrective action and process improvement, providing recommendations, and contribute to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety.
Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s) indicated below in the Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations section.
  • Four years' experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
  • May consider HM employee with three years' experience, as an Ultrasound Technologist, who demonstrates leadership abilities.

  • RDMS-OB - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - OB/GYN (ARDMS) OR RDMS-AB - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen (ARDMS) OR RDMS-BR - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Breast (ARDMS) -- Breast (BR) credential earned prior to June 30, 2010 will be accepted as referenced in ACR guidelines OR ARRT-SON - Radiologic Technologist - Sonography (ARRT) AND ARRT-VS - Radiologic Technologist - Vascular Sonography (ARRT) OR RVS - Registered Vascular Specialist (CCI) OR RVT - Registered Vascular Technologist (ARDMS) AND BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA)
