Role Responsibilities: This role is integral to the direct patient care team, demonstrating full competency in all facets of ultrasound examinations. The Ultrasound Technologist II also plays a pivotal role in mentoring Ultrasound Technologist I and students, sharing expertise to foster their professional growth.
This position operates autonomously, employing sound judgment and advanced clinical skills to navigate challenging diagnostic procedures and patient care scenarios. The technologist provides direct support to physicians during all diagnostic and specialized ultrasound procedures.
Patient Care Commitment: Delivering exceptional patient care is paramount, adhering to established ultrasound exam standards and guidelines to ensure optimal patient safety and satisfaction.
Core Functions:
- Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including both common and specialized exams utilizing high-frequency sound waves to generate images.
- Proactively assesses and addresses patient needs to enhance care quality, image clarity, and overall patient experience.
- Provides direct assistance to physicians during procedures, ensuring adherence to sterile techniques.
- Communicates effectively with patients and their families, offering clear explanations and instructions tailored to their understanding.
Quality and Safety Standards: Upholds safety protocols and conducts imaging procedures in accordance with established standards. Regularly practices aseptic techniques and complies with infection control measures. Identifies areas for improvement and contributes to departmental quality and safety objectives.
Documentation and Resource Management: Accurately documents patient procedures and enters charges promptly. Utilizes resources efficiently, demonstrating self-motivation in managing time and prioritizing tasks.
Professional Development: Engages in special projects and departmental initiatives, seeking opportunities for continuous learning and development. Maintains an updated individual development plan.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited educational program for the required credentials.
- Minimum of three years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist.
- Required certifications include RDMS-OB, RDMS-AB, RDMS-BR, ARRT-SON, ARRT-VS, RVS, RVT, and BLS.
Skills and Competencies: Demonstrates necessary skills to perform assigned duties safely, with proficiency in English for effective communication. Capable of working independently and managing complex diagnostic procedures with sound judgment.
