POSITION:
Vice President of Sales Strategy, Sports Events & Tourism Association

OBJECTIVE:


The Vice President of Sales Strategy (VPSS) leads the sales division, providing strategic direction and resources to ensure optimal performance of the sales team. This role is pivotal in achieving sales objectives and aligning the organization's sales initiatives with its overarching goals.

The VPSS supervises all sales functions related to Group Tourism, Conventions, and Sports sectors.

This position directly oversees a team of 5-6 professionals, including the Senior Sales Director, Vice President of Tourism Sales, Director of Sports Business Development, and Visitor Center Manager.


REPORTING STRUCTURE:
Reports to the President & CEO

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates in weekly team meetings or one-on-one sessions as required. Annual performance evaluations conducted by the President & CEO.

TEAM MANAGEMENT:
Oversees Tour & Travel, Convention/Sports Departments, and Visitor Center Manager

WORK LOCATION:
Sports Events & Tourism Association

REQUIREMENTS:


A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales within a Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), the Tourism Industry, Hotel Sales, or a combination thereof. Previous leadership experience is highly desirable.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Strong communication skills are critical for this role.

The VPSS must provide clear and effective guidance to the sales team, influencing performance and operational efficiency across the department.

Interpersonal skills are vital for fostering and maintaining relationships on behalf of the organization; experience in negotiating and finalizing contracts with clients, as well as executing large-scale events in collaboration with multiple stakeholders, is essential.


KEY PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:


Accountable for steering the sales team towards increasing bookings through the development of new client relationships and the formulation of tailored sales strategies for each sales channel within the organization.

Responsible for establishing key performance indicators for the sales team and collaborating with team members to enhance overall success.

Conducts ongoing market research, staying abreast of industry trends and best practices to maintain a competitive advantage and ensure the organization remains aligned with leading market players.

Generates comprehensive reports, presentations, and proposals for key stakeholders regarding the sales department, along with instructional materials for sales personnel. All materials must be clear, concise, and persuasive.

Cultivates relationships with key stakeholders, including facility managers, hotel executives, and owners.
