Position Overview
SCS Engineers is seeking a Mid to Senior Level Solid Waste Engineer to oversee and contribute to a variety of solid waste initiatives. This role involves managing projects, crafting proposals, and engaging directly with both public and private sector clients in areas such as marketing, client relations, and project execution. Key responsibilities encompass project oversight, business growth, and team development. The primary focus will be on solid waste management, which includes landfill gas, landfills, and landfill infrastructure, composting, and additional projects that may necessitate design, engineering, permitting, construction, and/or operational support. Opportunities for hybrid work are available from our offices in various locations, with remote options considered for California residents.
Impactful Contributions
- Utilize extensive knowledge of engineering and scientific principles in solid waste management and related fields.
- Develop engineering calculations, technical drawings, reports, and permit submissions.
- Independently resolve engineering or scientific challenges and coordinate project activities while representing the firm at industry meetings and conferences.
- Conduct fieldwork in diverse terrains and weather conditions, including surveys, data collection, and inspections.
- Perform office-based tasks such as CAD drafting, mathematical computations, report generation, and creating site plans and facility diagrams.
- Engage in business development activities, including proposal writing, client meetings, and participation in industry conferences and trade shows.
- Receive technical guidance on complex issues and seek supervisory approval for proposed plans or projects.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is mandatory.
- A minimum of 3 years of demonstrated experience in consulting within the solid waste sector, particularly in landfill gas management, air compliance, and landfill design and permitting.
- E.I.T. certification is required, and California P.E. (civil) registration or the ability to obtain it within 6 months is preferred.
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is essential.

The salary range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $130,000.00, depending on experience and location. This figure excludes bonuses or participation in our Employee Stock Ownership Plan.
