Job Title: Senior Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer to join our team at the County of Sonoma. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in supervising, training, and coaching our engineering staff, as well as assigning projects and ensuring the successful completion of engineering tasks.

About the Position

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with experience in engineering and construction principles, including sanitary sewer systems, portable water systems, drainage systems, hydrology, and hydraulic analysis. You will also possess excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple departments and stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and train engineering staff, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to complete tasks effectively.
  • Assign projects and tasks to engineering staff, ensuring they are completed on time and to a high standard.
  • Review plans and calculations for compliance with county codes and policies.
  • Elevate complicated and contentious issues to the Engineering Division Manager.
  • Read and respond to inquiries, explaining department policies and procedures, and providing guidance to direct reports.
Requirements
  • Four years of full-time, professional engineering experience, including at least one year at the level of a licensed, professional Engineer.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license at the appropriate level, including special endorsements, as required by the State of California.
  • Professional license as a Professional Civil Engineer, Professional Traffic Engineer, or Professional Mechanical Engineer issued by the State of California Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
