Overview:
Assists in delivering compassionate care to patients while performing various unit responsibilities under the guidance of licensed healthcare professionals and as instructed by management.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Delivers essential physical care to designated patients and executes technical tasks such as point of care (POC) testing.
2. Promptly and effectively implements nursing directives, understanding the intent behind each order.
3. Adheres to established policies and procedures for patient care activities, including unit-specific equipment usage.
4. Enhances patient comfort by ensuring proper positioning, additional bathing, tidying linens, and making personal items accessible with courtesy and attentiveness.
5. Ensures patient safety through proactive measures (e.g., side rails, restraints, bed/chair exit alarms, and regular rounding).
6. Accurately inputs all relevant data into the electronic health record system.
7. Communicates pertinent patient and visitor information and observations to the appropriate healthcare team members.
8. Provides age-appropriate care for patients on the assigned unit, demonstrating an understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan.
9.
Observes and reports any changes in patient condition or behavior; informs the nurse in charge of any unusual findings.
10. Recognizes and prioritizes tasks in the patient care process, responding promptly and exercising sound judgment in prioritizing activities.11. Cultivates effective working relationships with all healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
12. Maintains a safe, organized work environment and ensures a clean, well-stocked workspace. Assists in the upkeep of unit equipment.
13. Functions as a Safety Attendant/Patient Sitter, ensuring a secure environment for specific patients. Upholds standards of service excellence.
14. Participates in staff meetings and reviews/signs all meeting minutes.
15. Maintains certification in Basic Life Support.
16. Completes all compliance responsibilities associated with the role.
17. Performs additional duties as assigned.
Additional Information:
This position requires a minimum of a High School Diploma and zero to six months of relevant experience.
A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred but not essential.Active CNA certification is advantageous.
BLS/CPR certification is required within 90 days of employment or upon completion of the orientation process (prior to being released from orientation and functioning independently), whichever occurs first.
