About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mortgage Loan Specialist to join our team at Fifth Third Bank. As a Mortgage Loan Specialist, you will be responsible for originating residential 1st mortgage loans for outside referrals, meeting sales and cross-selling objectives, and assuming overall responsibility for the loan from application to closing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain referral contacts with realtors, builders, and other professionals.
  • Maintain knowledge of Fifth Third Mortgage Company's policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on available loan products, processing procedures, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Follow defined protocols for escalation exceptions.
  • Take applicant applications and complete information in the loan origination system.
  • Collect and deliver loan packages in a timely manner.
  • Manage pipelines for originated loans through closing and complete required management reports.
  • Communicate with branches and applicants regarding loan progress.
  • Provide high levels of customer service and manage expectations.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; four-year college degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of conventional and government lending guidelines.
  • Experience with residential mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Knowledge of federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  • Minimum 2 years of mortgage sales experience.
  • Established book of local referral sources.
  • Existing mortgage sales of $1 million per month.
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proven computer skills and basic sales technique skills.
