Position Overview

The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the proficient management of electrical and specialty systems construction projects, ensuring effective oversight of field personnel while maintaining a strong focus on profitability and quality.

This role demands a meticulous and experienced professional capable of navigating complex project landscapes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, coordination, scheduling, and execution of electrical construction projects, ensuring they are completed safely, profitably, and in accordance with high-quality standards and contractual obligations.
  • Manage comprehensive project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, addendums, proposal requests, change orders, and meeting minutes.
  • Review client contracts and provide insightful feedback for approval by senior management.
  • Maintain up-to-date project drawings and specifications for both field and office use.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of project submittals, including those from subcontractors.
  • Prepare and issue change orders for work beyond the original scope of the contract.
  • Conduct thorough project closeout processes, including the delivery of punch list completion, as-builts, and owner maintenance manuals.
  • Maintain warranty logs and ensure all project-related documentation is accurate.
  • Facilitate various meetings with clients, internal teams, and subcontractors, providing effective meeting notes.
  • Handle day-to-day administrative tasks as required.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Develop and implement project-specific safety plans in collaboration with the Safety Department.
  • Contribute to the estimating and preconstruction phases of prospective projects.
  • Manage project financials, including forecasting, budget creation, productivity tracking, and daily reporting.
  • Procure materials in conjunction with the Purchasing Manager to ensure timely deliveries aligned with project schedules.
  • Analyze project materials, equipment, and practices, offering recommendations for enhancements.
  • Oversee all financial aspects of the project, including change orders, billings, and documentation control.
  • Identify and address project concerns promptly to mitigate risks and maintain strong relationships.
  • Engage professionally with owners, contractors, municipalities, and construction managers to foster lasting relationships.
  • Support and guide field personnel assigned to projects.
  • Mentor and train junior team members.
  • Collaborate with payroll to ensure accurate tracking of direct reports' time and payroll information.
  • Utilize software tools such as CRS, PTS, Apex, ConEst, and Sage effectively.

  • Willingness to accept direction and constructive feedback from senior management.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Familiarity with ConEst, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam Revu is preferred.

Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or equivalent experience.

Industry Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of project management experience on projects exceeding $20 million.

Estimating Experience:
Demonstrated ability to prepare and analyze electrical estimates.

People Management Experience:
At least 5 years of experience managing direct reports.
