This role is part of the Deaconess Supplemental Staff (DSS) program, offering a flexible schedule with a minimum commitment of 48 hours over a 6-week period. This position is ideal for students and individuals seeking greater flexibility. Supplemental hours may vary and are not guaranteed.
Position Overview:
Under the guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN), the Patient Care Technician (PCT) carries out various care tasks and related services essential for addressing the personal needs, comfort, and safety of a designated patient demographic (ANA Standards of Delegation). The employee must successfully complete job-specific orientation, competencies, and meet or exceed the standards outlined in the performance appraisal criteria. PCTs are expected to demonstrate an understanding of patients' rights in all facets of patient care and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel. The PCT showcases leadership by coordinating unit equipment and activities. They communicate relevant findings or observations to the RN while providing patient care and comfort. Additionally, they assist professional staff with fundamental life support principles.
Qualifications:
- Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider certification, to be obtained within six months of hire.
- Completion of high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred.
- Successful completion of PCT training as mandated by the care center/unit.
