As a Patient Care Technician, you will be essential in supporting the healing mission of Deaconess.

This role is part of the Deaconess Supplemental Staff (DSS) program, providing a flexible work schedule with a minimum commitment of 48 hours over a 6-week timeframe. This position is ideal for students and individuals seeking adaptable work hours. Supplemental hours may fluctuate and are not guaranteed.

Position Overview:

Under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Patient Care Technician (PCT) carries out various care tasks and related services essential for addressing the personal needs, comfort, and safety of a designated patient group. The employee must successfully complete job-specific orientation, competencies, and meet or exceed performance appraisal standards. PCTs are expected to uphold patient rights in all facets of care and report any concerns to the appropriate personnel. The PCT exhibits leadership by coordinating unit equipment and activities, and effectively communicates significant findings or observations to the RN while providing patient care and comfort. Additionally, the PCT assists professional staff with fundamental life support principles.

Qualifications:
  • Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider certification within six months of employment.
  • Completion of high school education or equivalent (GED) is preferred.
  • Successful completion of PCT training as mandated by the care center/unit.
