Job Summary

The Assistant Manager - Property Operations assists the Property Manager in overseeing the daily operations of a residential building. This role involves managing office administration, handling tenant relations, and ensuring the smooth operation of the building.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Property Manager in managing all aspects of building operations, including office administration and tenant relations.
  • Use property management software to track and report on building operations, including rent collection and tenant information.
  • Process applications, move-ins, move-outs, and certifications, and maintain accurate records.
  • Manage the building when the Property Manager is off-site, ensuring that all operations run smoothly.
  • Address tenant requests and disputes, and respond to building emergencies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the Property Manager in compiling and completing reports, including vacancy reports and other operational summaries.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of prior experience in residential property management preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise judgment in problem-solving.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adjust to changing situations and work under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as property management software such as Yardi Voyager.
  • Sensitivity to issues facing low-income, disabled, and elderly populations, with a commitment to providing culturally competent services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with low-income/affordable residential property management, including experience with Project Based Section 8 and Tax Credit programs.
  • Prior experience with reception work, including processing applications and handling tenant inquiries.
  • Familiarity with Yardi Voyager and other property management software.
  • Bilingual in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) or Russian and English, with the ability to communicate effectively with tenants and staff.
