Company Overview:

The organization is a prominent manufacturer, recognized as a leader within its sector. With operations spanning five locations, including three in Scotland and two in England and Wales, the company has demonstrated robust growth and a strong financial standing. The Chief Executive has delegated significant responsibilities to senior management, supported by a compact Head Office team.

Due to the rapid expansion and a favorable financial outlook, the shareholders are seeking a Finance Director with a keen commercial perspective to enhance the company's value, particularly in light of a potential sale in the near future.

Role Specification:

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Chief Financial Officer will spearhead the Finance, Accounting, and Administration Team. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all accounting functions, including management and statutory reporting.
  • Managing IT systems, factory accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and process enhancements.
  • Providing commercial support to the Chief Executive and Plant Managers, facilitating business growth.
  • Preparing the organization for a potential sale, including engaging with professional advisors and presenting to prospective buyers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain timely monthly management accounts and annual financial statements.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO on financial projections and the annual budgeting process.
  • Mentor and motivate the finance team to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Lead IT systems development, identifying requirements and opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement internal audits and controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate transaction recording.
  • Work alongside the Chief Executive and Plant Managers to enhance the commercial performance of the business.
  • Play a pivotal role in preparing the business for a sale process, including the appointment of advisors and data room preparation.

Candidate Profile:

  • University degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
  • Qualified Accountant (Chartered or Cost and Management Accountant).
  • Experience in manufacturing, particularly in cost accounting and factory reporting.
  • A minimum of three years in a Director of Finance or Accounting Manager role.
  • Strong business acumen with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all management team members and support Plant Managers across locations.
  • Proven track record in developing and managing high-performance teams.
  • Experience with IT systems implementation and development.
  • Exceptional decision-making skills and a focus on results and process improvements.
