Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee to join our team at the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe. As a key member of our behavioral health team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality substance use disorder treatment services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive substance use disorder assessments using ASAM and DSM-V criteria, and develop individualized treatment plans to address client needs.
  • Facilitate a variety of treatment groups, including group and individual counseling sessions, to support client recovery and well-being.
  • Collaborate with treatment team members to develop and implement instructional strategies and programs that meet the needs of our clients.
  • Provide clinical input and participate in staff meetings to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records, and ensure timely communication with courts, referents, and resource agencies as needed.
Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee or Substance Use Disorder Professional license with the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to express thoughts clearly in verbal and written communications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with clients and the community.
  • Ability to work independently, make decisions, and maintain program goals and priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working and public relationships.
  • Ability to work with diverse ethnic populations and a variety of people with different backgrounds and challenges.
  • Must have the ability to work with both youth and adult clients.
  • Familiarity with concepts of historical/intergenerational trauma and trauma-informed care.
  • Must possess an unrestricted, valid driver's license and be able to drive KCS transport vans.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and urinalysis testing.
Working Conditions
  • Stamina to work 40 hours per week primarily in an office setting.
  • Ability to reach and squat for filing purposes.
  • Walking and standing; sitting down, driving for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry light loads of approximately 25 pounds.
  • Requires use of standard office equipment, including computer, phone, fax, and photocopier.
