Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Vice President of Business Development and Origination to drive our growth as a leading Independent Power Producer. This individual will work across the company to develop and execute the offtake strategy, focusing on securing corporate, non-utility, and MUSH offtake structures for our CleanCapital pipeline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the build out and implementation of CleanCapital's go-to-market strategy to attract, sell, and close clean energy power purchase agreements (and/or other contractual instruments) with large, non-utility offtakers.
  • Contribute to CleanCapital's overall brand with a public-facing role to the market.
  • Lead and execute on the origination strategy to cultivate, build, and strengthen relationships with strategic customers and potential offtakers.
  • Improve CleanCapital's projects by infusing customer preferences into development of projects, products, and offerings.
  • Creatively solve barriers to closing customer origination, such as creating new contracting mechanisms, driving solutions for the 24/7 and Emissions-First customer communities, and elevating the value proposition of CC's projects' social and environmental attributes.
Requirements
  • 10+ years' experience in energy sales (preferably at a renewable energy IPP, but open to energy sales at a utility or non-renewable IPP), consulting, or energy procurement at a large energy user.
  • Proven track record of building and implementing a business development strategy, particularly to large corporate clients, in wholesale structured or unstructured markets and/or in retail contracts.
  • Action-oriented mindset and ability to work in a nimble, fast-paced, growing organization.
  • Understanding of the new IRA structure and how it applies to solar projects.
  • Intimate understanding of the nuances of the needs, desires, and strategies of large energy users.
  • History of working across teams, including engineering, finance, marketing, and strategy.
  • People-focus, with an ability to build, grow, and retain a team of BD and sales teams.
