Orthopedic Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Role Overview

Work Schedule:
Monday - Morning/Evening
Tuesday - Surgical Procedures
Wednesday - Morning/Evening
Thursday - Morning/Surgical Procedures
Friday - Surgical Procedures

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive physical assessments and document findings accurately.
  • Order and analyze diagnostic tests.
  • Formulate diagnoses, develop treatment strategies, and request necessary ancillary tests.
  • Collaborate with specialists and interventional practitioners.
  • Assist in fracture reductions.
  • Provide surgical care in an office setting.
  • Administer injections and prescribe oral medications.
  • Prepare and authorize prescription orders and refills.
  • Educate patients on medications and treatment plans.
  • Assist with orthopedic device application and brace measurements.
  • Document patient progress and transcribe medical orders.
  • Manage patient inquiries and provide consultations.
  • Ensure continuity of care and monitor patient progress.
  • Execute emergency treatment procedures when necessary.
  • Support direct patient care management.

Administrative Duties

  • Provide necessary documentation and coding for healthcare services.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to committees.
  • Engage in professional development initiatives.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program (Mandatory)
  • 2-3 years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider in an orthopedic or family practice setting (Mandatory)
  • Current and valid licenses and certifications
  • Exceptional customer service abilities
  • Proven conflict resolution skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Preferred experience in an operating room environment
