Job Title: Senior Program Director

The Maryland Department of Commerce is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Program Director to join the Division of Tourism, Film and the Arts, Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC).

About the Role

The Senior Program Director will serve as a key member of MSAC's leadership team, providing management and supervision of various grant programs. This role will oversee the alignment of programs with MSAC priorities, support Program Directors in policy development and administration, and collaborate with MSAC staff to maintain excellent service to Maryland's artists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct supervision of Program Directors and staff
  • Oversight of grant programs and their alignment with MSAC priorities
  • Support for policy development and administration
  • Collaboration with MSAC staff to maintain excellent service to Maryland's artists
  • Building and maintaining local, regional, and national partnerships
  • Supervision of special projects
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in arts administration or an arts discipline
  • At least four years of experience in administrative staff or professional work within an arts organization, grant making entity, or a public arts agency
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple, concurrent, and high-priority projects
  • Proficiency with the Google Suite and/or other relevant software
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in arts administration or an arts discipline
  • Two years of experience in supervising employees, overseeing and coordinating operations of a unit, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures
What We Offer

As a Senior Program Director with the Maryland State Arts Council, you will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about advancing the arts in Maryland. You will be responsible for leading grant programs, supervising staff, and collaborating with MSAC staff to maintain excellent service to Maryland's artists.

This is a special appointment position, and serves at the pleasure of the Appointing Authority. The selected candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to handle multiple, concurrent, and high-priority projects, and proficiency with the Google Suite and/or other relevant software.

Some statewide travel is required, as is attendance at out-of-state and national conferences.
