Job Description

Job Summary:

Sigma Design is a product development, engineering, and manufacturing firm that offers innovative concept through production services to diverse clients around the globe. We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team in Camas, WA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Architect, design, develop, and implement custom controls and vision systems solutions for a wide variety of projects of varying complexity and scale.
  • System Integration: Program, network, commission, analyze, diagnose, and debug control systems with a wide variety of hardware, including PLCs, microprocessors, motion controllers, HMIs, robots, servo drives, VFDs, servos, steppers, and/or induction motors, vision systems, and all types of sensors.
  • Component Specification: Specify control components and support creation of the BOM.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Design control systems to the UL508A, UL61010, and NFPA 79 regularity standards.
  • Documentation: Assist in writing and reviewing system specification documents and support the creation of operations manuals.
  • Testing and Validation: Test/Validation, perform FAT, SAT, and onsite training.
  • Business Technology: Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 years experience integrating complex mechanical-electrical systems.
  • Programming Skills: Programming PLCs, safety PLCs, motion controllers, and HMIs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Yaskawa, Kollmorgen, Beckhoff, IFM, etc.).
  • Technical Skills: Sizing/selecting circuit protectors, wiring, cables, sensors, controllers, system I/O, drives, and motors, etc.
  • Vision Systems: Integrating and programming vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, iRVision, etc.), robots (ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa, Omron, etc.), and other devices for custom-designed equipment or a work cell.
  • CAD Software: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electric, EPlan).
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal English language communication skills.
  • Teamwork Skills: Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively.

Work Environment:

Standard office environment with normal amounts of office-related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers.
