We are seeking an Automation Systems Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time in-office position with the possibility of a hybrid work arrangement after the initial year. The ideal candidate should be willing to travel occasionally as required. The compensation range for this role is competitive.

Key Responsibilities

The Automation Systems Engineer will be tasked with the design, development, and implementation of control and vision system solutions across a variety of projects, each differing in complexity and scale.

Essential Duties
  • Design, develop, and implement tailored control and vision systems solutions.
  • Program, network, commission, analyze, diagnose, and troubleshoot control systems utilizing a range of hardware including PLCs, microprocessors, motion controllers, HMIs, robots, servo drives, VFDs, servos, steppers, and various sensors.
  • Specify control components and assist in the creation of the Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Design control systems in compliance with UL508A, UL61010, and NFPA 79 regulatory standards.
  • Support the development of electrical wiring and cable diagrams and assist in the electrical enclosure builds.
  • Contribute to the writing and review of system specification documents and operations manuals.
  • Conduct testing and validation, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and onsite training.
  • Adhere to Business Technology policies to safeguard sensitive data and minimize information security risks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in integrating complex mechanical-electrical systems.
  • Proficient in programming PLCs, safety PLCs, motion controllers, and HMIs (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens, Yaskawa, Kollmorgen, Beckhoff, IFM).
  • Experience in sizing and selecting circuit protectors, wiring, cables, sensors, controllers, system I/O, drives, and motors.
  • Skilled in integrating and programming vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence, iRVision), robots (e.g., ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa, Omron), and other devices for custom-designed equipment.
  • Proficient in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD Electric, EPlan).
  • Strong understanding of closed-loop control, instrumentation, control systems, enclosure design, and safety codes and regulations (UL 508A, NFPA79, UL61010).
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams to achieve high-quality results on time and within budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively.
  • Professional demeanor when interacting with clients and team members.

Work Environment

The work environment is a standard office setting with typical office-related conditions. There may be occasional requirements to work in environments that simulate typical user conditions for design testing and validation. Some travel may be necessary to other facilities or client locations.
