Job Overview

As an Audio Visual Systems Project Manager, you will oversee the deployment of audio visual (AV) systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and institutional standards. Your role will encompass managing intricate, large-scale projects, including classrooms, conference rooms, auditoriums, and laboratories, focusing on the design and project management of AV technology solutions in both new constructions and renovations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Leadership and Supervision:
Direct and manage personnel and activities related to audio visual design on-site.

2. Client Engagement:
Collaborate with clients to fully understand project requirements and objectives, including contractual, financial, technical, and scheduling aspects. Review all contract documents thoroughly.

3. Project Coordination:
Facilitate internal project kick-off meetings with key stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and installation teams.

4. Execution Management:
Oversee all activities related to the execution of audio visual projects, including submittals, design engineering, installation, programming, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.

5. Scheduling:
Create and manage project schedules, coordinating with general contractors and other trades as necessary. Provide regular updates on job progress to stakeholders.

6. Budget Oversight:
Monitor labor expenditures and communicate any budgetary issues that arise during the project lifecycle.

7. Vendor Management:
Engage with approved vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotes that meet design specifications, adhering to institutional policies.

8. Documentation and Communication:
Generate and respond to construction communications, including requests for information and change order documents.

9. Change Management:
Proactively manage the change order process, ensuring regular inspections of installation work and testing of installed systems.

10. Additional Duties:
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:
Six to eight years of relevant experience in audio visual project management.

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications:
Project Management Professional (PMP), CTS-Design, CTS-Installation, or other relevant certifications.

Skills and Abilities

Technical Proficiency:
Advanced knowledge in engineering design and project management related to audio visual solutions. Strong skills in design, installation, and electronics assembly are essential.

Communication and Leadership:
Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership skills, with a proven track record in integrating audio visual and video conferencing technologies.
