Job Summary

The Clinical Pharmacology Division Administrator serves as the top administrator for the academic and administrative operations and is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, and input on all fiscal and administrative affairs related to the education and research missions, with an advisory role into clinical operations.

Department-Specific Responsibilities
  • Leads, initiates, develops, recommends and implements short and long-term division goals and initiatives in the areas of research, education, human resources, finance, gift development, clinical/practice plan funding and physician compensation throughout IU and IUHP (if applicable).
  • Directly supervises Division staff of 3 administrative leads and oversees the supervision of their direct reports for a total of 8 staff.
  • Conducts annual performance reviews and cultivates professional development plans.
  • Oversees and approves the development of organizational structures, job description development and updates, position reclassification/changes, annual increases, promotions, hiring and/or termination proceedings for all non faculty staff.
  • Develops staffing plans.
  • Oversees the faculty recruitment processes in the Division, including the design of compensation and startup packages.
  • Determines financial implications of recruitment packages, negotiates with internal and external investors to the hires to maximize university resources to attract top candidates.
General Responsibilities
  • Directs the daily and long-term financial and/or administrative operations of multiple institution organizational units or a multi-faceted academic research and teaching unit within a school or college.
  • Responsible for accuracy, timelines, and the general integrity of the Health Services Administration family.
  • Controls all expenditures and statement of accounts to ensure regulatory compliance and fiscal integrity.
  • Manages complex revenues including internal and external sources.
  • Directs the management of general appropriation, endowment, federal and non-federal grants and contracts, and gift funds.
  • Prepares operating and project budget drafts. Creates annual revenue and expenditure budget for school or support unit.
  • Monitors functional area budgets and reports any significant deviations from approved budgets. Develops budgetary policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for supervising business support personnel.
  • Develops, plans, and directs special projects, which may include space renovations, space allocations, staffing, equipment purchases, long-range plans, leasing of off-campus space and services.
  • May oversee and direct variety of human resources activities including employment, labor relations, benefits, training, and classification for functional area.

  • Bachelor's degree in health services, finance, business, or related field

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$102,950 - $112,950 per year based on experience.
